Pain in the Heart
Holy Hannah.
Can I just say that? I honestly never saw that coming-I mean I thought it was Sweets, I mean he had every means and opportunity for it. Hart Hanson set him up for that. Not only that, they set up Hodgins for it also and he knew everyone thought it was him, I'm so happy that Brennan didn't think so. . .showing Cam up on that.
Out of a hundred people in the lab it had to be Zack? Maybe it has something to do with what happened in Iraq and Gormogon used his vulnerablity to his advantage. The explosion didn't make sense, but when Zack explained it was because Hodgins distracted him and he didn't want to hurt him, made you think that there was a chance in hell that it was post-Iraq paranoia. He cares for the other people in the lab, but it doesn't excuse him killing the lobbyist or nearly drowning that little boy. I hope they tackle that in season 4, because it hurt everyone.
Ok, I'm getting ahead of myself. The beginning of the episode when Brennan and Zack stood on the platform going over the initial remains and Hodgins is like, lets go and she said no. I'm not going and for Angela to pull her aside, to make her come with them, "I can't do this without you." I mean for her to compartmentalize that would've killed her to miss it, even though she didn't think so. At the funeral when she was questioning God and whatnot, should've broke Booth's heart because she wasn't exactly being quiet about it.
David Boreanaz in a bathtub, naked.. is a dream come true, I don't care who you are, girl/boy/gay/strait a freaking dream come true. This is my house, gosh dang it! Good to know he is a Green Lanturn fan and drinking beer out of hat-life handed him lemons and he made lemonade, making a hot tub. The whole you have nothing to be ashamed of or whatever comment was amazing, I will have to wait til tomorrow to get it of iTunes.
"I'm not coming to your next funeral." She had every right to be pissed. She was being very fair...we'll keep it at that. I wish that there was a bigger blow up (possible fic?)
Oh Booth diserved to be punched by her, I mean there is so much going on and she needed to vent and he totally diserved it. But damn Sweet, not telling her in the first place and using it as an expirement, I would have pushed him down the stairs. I'm not going to be rational, and say that it was a good idea, but Brennan should've slugged him (Yeah Booth, I agree). But completely on his behalf, when Booth asked him if he would go quietly and he said no, "you are going to have to arrest me" again.... setting him up to be Gormogon.
I wish they would use Angela more, it was sweet of her to sit with Zack first.. I mean it I think it set her up to be hurt more, She is just to caring for her own good. But I think Cam had the truest reaction, the "I knew he would cause me pain from the moment I met him." And pretty much sobbing was amazing. When Brennan realized that she didn't give him anything and walked away was pretty much a moment ("A moment is when you know you are going to cry") and Booth handed her the letter she sent Zack, and I cried...not going to lie. That was probably the best gift she could've given. She laid her head on Booth's shoulder-Good thing their partnership wasn't strained, she was just pissed off, poor Brennan...her heart was broken and was abandoned by the boy genius.
What was the deal with Brennans "Class"? They never brought that up, ever... but using her resourses wisely, give her a badge. . .
over all, if I had a million thumbs, they all would be up.
I will mourn Zack.

RE: Pain in the Heart
There are a lot of things I liked about the episode, but there are a lot of things I needed more. The episode felt rushed to me. They needed more time, it should have been 2 hours. I understand and completely agree the Brennan was pissed at Booth and she should have been. This was her way of showing emotion. I just didn't like that she told Sweets that she could compartmentalize and be okay with Booth being dead. I don't believe that for a second. We needed more of her dealing with him being alive or with him being dead, either way. I loved the bathtub scene and I loved how Brennan was so angry that it didn't really phase her that Booth was naked in that tub. Also, I loved how she wanted him to want to know why she wasn't told. That was a lot of heart. I loved the final scene when Booth went to comfort her about Zack, but I think we needed a moment when she told Booth how happy she was that he was alive and well. I'm sorry if Booth were really dead (which is what she thought) she would have truly been in mourning, but I think anger was her way of mourning. Does that make sense?
I'm okay with Zach being the apprentice if that is the direction they wanted to go, but I needed more explanation as to what got him to that point. I mean what kind of power did Gormogon have over him that convinced him that logically this was right. I didn't get that. Hopefully we will get to understand that more next season.
All in all....it was a decent episode, not my favorite, but I was okay with it. I just can't wait for August!
Sorry this is so long!

I think its just her putting up a strong front, you know how everyone was crying and she felt that she needed to be the strong one, like she always does. But If they were to do a longer episode, I think that they would've done more of a scene with her at home, by herself, and crying or mourning. Thats why I think it differs why she was publically crying over Zack because Booth was there and he makes her emotional, or more human. And when he's gone, she resorts to the way she was pre season one and season one.

Thanks for that. I never really thought about it that way, but you are right. He does make her more human. He knows just what she needs. I just wish we could have seen her dealing with the "loss" of Booth. Those feelings aren't going away, hopefully we will get to see them in Season 4.

Agreed.... but then again they didn't show any emotion after Aliens in the Spaceship or after the Kiss for that matter.... They have a tendency to do that, but I guess thats a good thing for fanfiction writers right?

RE: Pain in the Heart
To be honest, I didn't focus at all on the B and B element of this episode - and after the amount of fanfic stories I've written pertaining to romance between them, that's unusual. I cannot believe Zach has been the baddie all along. I absolutely HATE it. I was like :o and think the writer's have irreversibly tarnished a fantastic and unique character. Zach added a bit of surreal oomph to the show with his wacky genius, comical dialogue and not to mention when he sang in WitW. I'm gutted they picked Zach -- I'd have perferred Sweets. Anyway, we'll see how it goes but I reckon the show will see some negativity in choosing Zach as Gormagon's appentice.

Everyone is upset by the episode... I was actually really impressed by it, its one of those loops that people didn't see coming (Luke, I am your Father ring a bell?)
