Beta-reading

We are always looking for beta-readers, so if you're interested could you please leave a comment here so that other writers who are in need of a beta-reader will know where to look. You can also specify the kind of stories you're interested in proof-reading! Thanks a lot!

RE: Beta-reading

I am a Beta-reader!! As a Beta reader, I focus mainly of plot flow, grammatical errors and all other editing purpose. If I find a huge problem, the author will be contacted and asked how they would like it fixed.

I ask that for longer stories you give me at least three days to go through your story, edit and recheck, if I need more time-I will PM and ask for more time. If you can't tell, I love to keep contact with the authors that I beta.

I do all types of stories... but I prefer not to do slash stories and other than that I'm open to do all

My Email is SplashISwicked (AT) aol (DOT) Com

RE: Beta-reading

I'd like to beta for someone. I've done it quite a lot in the past, for friends as well as writers I don't personally know.

I don't mind revising any kind of story except for slash - yes, I draw the line there as well.
I focus on spelling, plot, errors of any kind, and this list could go on and on...

What's more to say...
Oh yeah; I'm always honest. When I think your story doesn't "flow", I'll tell you. Critisism will always be constructive and isn't meant to hurt you - yeah, because you have these people who immediately go "OMG r u insultin me?" and that gets annoying after a while.

Well, um, if you're interested, PM me or something. If that's an option here. We can work out the whole time-matter then.

Soraya.

RE: Beta-reading

I'll do almost any genre of story, but no major character death. If the story is romance or has an established relationship, I can only do B/B - mostly because those are the characters I feel I know best and could beta best.

I'm not great with punctuation, as far as semicolons, colons, etc, but am fairly good. I can help brainstorm plotlines, but am best at dialogue and character development. Always try to point out the good and the things that need work. If multi-chapter, I'd need it chapter by chapter and not all at once.

If interested, PM me.

RE: Beta-reading

Hi!

I'm looking for a beta-reader. It's for a fanfic I already have some chapters published on fanfiction.net but not the complete story... I had someone beta-reading it for me bacause I'm Spanish so I make some mistakes when trying to write in english. The girl who was doing it now is too busy and she can't help me from now on...

If someone is interested in helping me I would be very pleased.

Thank you very much!

RE: Beta-reading

I'm a beta-reader and a writer as well. I've been beta-reading for about five years now in the X-Files fandom. I can help with anything from simple proofreading (I'm have undergraduate degrees in English Literature and Professional Writing, but I promise I don't bite.) to sentence structure, characterization, brainstorming plots, story flow, or really just about anything.

Generally I can get back to you with a quick once over by the next morning (unless you've got a novel going). If you're looking for an overhaul, it's probably going to be longer. I like to use IM (AIM or Yahoo) for working out plot and character adjustments, and any kind of brainstorming, though they can be done via email as well. I'm online each evening for several hours and on weekends.

In terms of story preference, I'm really open to everything. I've got a good deal of experience with episode-style fics, straight romance/smut, and femslash. I don't have as much experience in humor or "guy" slash, though I'd be willing to help you out.

Email me at paulie_estrellas (AT) yahoo.com or leave a comment at my journal: crearealidad

RE: Beta-reading

I'm new to the site and am looking forward to reading and playing with you folks!

Let me know if I can be any help in Beta reading. I have an MA in physical anthro and have done some forensic work: I might be helpful as a technical advisor.

I'm a thorough but not nasty proof reader as well.
